RE-SIM Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 8, 2026

RE-SIM ("the extension") is a Chrome extension that analyzes a real-estate listing you are viewing and runs financial projections on it. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how.

What the extension accesses

When you open the extension on a supported real-estate listing page (Zillow, Redfin, or Realtor.com), it reads the property details shown on that page — such as address, list price, beds, baths, and square footage — so it can calculate a mortgage payment, pull comparable sales, and produce a monthly profit-and-loss estimate.

What is stored, and where

Your settings and your RentCast API key are stored locally on your own device using Chrome's storage API. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to the developer or any server operated by the developer.

Third-party services

To provide comparable sales and market trends, the extension sends property details (such as the address) to the RentCast API using your own API key. That data is handled under RentCast's privacy policy. The extension does not send your data to any other third party.

What the extension does NOT do

  • It does not collect or store your data on a remote server.
  • It does not sell or transfer your data to third parties.
  • It does not use your data for advertising.
  • It does not track your browsing across sites.
  • It runs only on the supported listing pages listed above and only on the page you are actively viewing.

Data retention and deletion

Because settings are stored locally, you can remove all stored data at any time by removing the extension from Chrome, or by clearing the extension's storage in your browser settings.
